IN THE SPIRIT of friendship and adventure, August Man Malaysia successfully expanded The A-List network in 2019 following a series of memorable excursions and gracious lifestyle experiences, specially created in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, Timberland and Rado. Our journey over the past year has helped us to become further acquainted with the fourth edition of dynamic individuals who embody the August Man tenet of style, substance and success, namely Brian Ong, Darren Chong, Neal and Nigel Edwin, Charles Chua, Reza Ramli, Syameel Lao, Azri Ibrahim, Syed Mohd Ilyas, Nick Marriott and Alex Hong.

In appreciation of their participation and the generous support of our partners, August Man hosted a year-end celebration, courtesy of The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Bringing the entire A-List family together, we invited the preceding A-Listers to join in the party.

Upon thanking the guests, we presented a video that recounted the eventful journey undertaken by the 2019 A-Listers. Kicking off the campaign in adventurous style, we took our guys outdoor and put them to the test at Riverbug Perak, where they paddled through the whitewater rapids of Kampar River and Lumut, participated in waterfall abseiling down the daunting Ulu Geruntum Waterfall and explored the Tempurung Cave.

Our A-Listers took an elegant turn in their next outing with us at the launch of Rado’s week-long exhibition in KLCC, where they took part as guest models, showcasing the brand’s latest collection, particularly the new Captain Cook timepieces from the Rado Tradition range. As part of the ongoing “urban hunting” campaign, we roped in 2016 A-Lister Cheah Ka Wai, co-founder of the global escape room franchise Breakout, and invited the guys to explore a blend of live theatre, role play and storytelling at Malaysia’s first and foremost interactive house of horror, Hauntu.

Following the nerve-wracking experience at Hauntu, the A-Listers took a relaxing road-trip to Penang with Mercedes-Benz and explored the island city’s rich heritage, nightlife and streetfood in style. Adding to the experience was their staycation at one of Penang’s newest luxury boutique hotels, 88 Armenian, and the SAVV Hotel at the historical waterfront of Weld Quay, featuring an uninterrupted view of the Penang Strait. Back in KL, the A-Listers enjoyed a boys’ night out at the city’s most stylish bars to date, including Brixton 23, Santai at The RuMa and Flying Monkeys in which they tried their hand at mixology.

In conjunction with Timberland’s Nature Needs Heroes campaign, we explored the

“green” world of A-Listers Neal and Nigel at Rent A Pot with terrarium planting, and discovered Ilyas’s contribution to the betterment of the environment at his farm, Selangor Fruit Valley, with composting.

Closing The A-List 2019 on a high note, A-Lister Kyren Thomas and his band Ryot Jones amped up the celebration at Majestic with a special, dynamic live performance that culminated in a surprise birthday celebration for Charles Chua and his forerunners Rizal Kamal, Jeremy Hoo and Hazwan Yazit. As we look forward to presenting you with the next edition of The A-List, we invite you to check out all the things that went down over the past years and find out how you can be a part of the family at augustman.com/my/the-a-list.
