IF YOU HAVEN’T already heard BATE’s latest track featuring Simon Webbe, from English boy band Blue, do yourself a favour and check it out; and if you have already, you’re probably wondering how the exciting collaboration came about. Not to mention the thrilling music video that was shot entirely in Kuala Lumpur.

It all started when Blue came down to Malaysia for their concert in 2019, after which BATE’s manager let Simon listen to the track the duo had produced. The tune struck a chord with Simon who agreed to record with BATE. Immediately the next day, BATE along with Simon produced the track within six hours ‒ and Simon managed to catch his flight back to UK on that same night.

Fast forward to January 2020, after having kept their masterpiece under wraps for some time, Simon Webbe arrived in Malaysia again, this time to shoot the exciting music video which featured quite a few brands as well ‒ with a lot of the action happening at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The video which sees Simon as a James Bond-esque character, replete with an Aston Martin DB11, who is aided in his mission by ‘hackers’ BATE took only three days to shoot and has gotten close to 400,000 views on YouTube (at time of writing). While the song itself has garnered over 1.7 million streams since its launch in March this year.

During a virtual press conference with BATE and Simon Webbe hosted by Universal Music, Simon also commended BATE for their work ethic, and mentioned that this was the first time ever that he has successfully partnered up to produce a hit with DJs. Fans of both Simon as well as BATE would also be pleased to know that the artists have been busy at work too during the lockdown, so you can be excited to know that there will be more tracks coming your way.
