An expressive and playful structure taking form at Bottega Veneta
Daniel Lee’s elevated approach for the Pre-Fall 2020 collection
DANIEL LEE’S APPROACH for Bottega Veneta’s Pre-Fall collection shows him building a playful and refreshing use of expressive silhouettes, textures, and shapes from the impressive use of the intrecciato motif to the enticing colour palette setting the mood for any occasion.
Lee has reimagined the overlapping staple motif with inflated proportions, padded it for a quilted effect and further utilized the technique in varying materials on standout pieces like the puff jackets and toasty oversized coats, large pillow-like bags and rubber-soled boots. In the sense of colour, building off the quintessential monochromatic palette that’s played up by texture given the presence of leather and nylon with added splashes of primary red, and varying hues of turquoise and yellow that serves to brighten up the otherwise traditional, dark and reflective fall palettes.
Sporty pieces are juxtaposed with luxe suiting as a sharp and modern fit as well as deep denim pieces. The remarkable simplicity and approach forms the basis of a cohesive and well-thought out collection that offers complete head-to-toe looks.
