SUSTAINING HERITAGE
BACK IN 2013, at the fourth International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Chengdu, China, the then Director-General of UNESCO (2009-2017), Irina Bokova, said, “Heritage is never more powerful, never more necessary, than in times of change and uncertainty, than in times of transformation, natural disasters and conflict.”
With that in mind, today, in an unprecedented year filled with trials and tribulations, August Man Malaysia, in partnership with TAG Heuer and Volvo Malaysia, has decided to revise its established line-up of awards for the 2020 edition of Men of the Year and instead present the #MadeInMY Awards, in recognition of a group of exceptional individuals who have each dedicated their craft, knowledge and creativity to the preservation, promotion and sustainability of different aspects of our country’s rich and diverse culture and heritage.
In addition, we are proud to present you with our final cover personality for the year, current Member of Parliament for Muar, Syed Saddiq, who is set on bringing positive change to our political landscape with his newfound multicultural party MUDA, and driving the future of Malaysia with modern ideals of diversity, inclusivity and innovation.
Enjoy!
