The Saint Laurent Men’s Spring Summer 2021 Project curated by Anthony Vaccarello, was a unique virtual and physical experience, bringing together videos, augmented reality, 3D lenticular imagery, music playlist, street posters, hidden stickers, photo walls, flags, and more; all connecting the places from around the world, digitally to physically, directed by frequent collaborator, Nathalie Canguilhem,

Over the skies and the architectures of Paris, New York, and Beijing, a constant attraction redefies gravity. The video unveils Anthony Vaccarello’s collection, the inspirations, materials, forms, bright and dark colours, naturally blending different worlds. Set against a twilight sky in the beginning, the film features cameos by actor Justice Smith and Saint Laurent ambassador Charlotte Gainsbourg. The video sees a group of men run across their skylines with urgency and implying a journey of liberation to find freedom.

In this short film presentation, Vacarello displays his continuity with the laid-back rockstar tailoring in his suits attuned to Yves Saint Laurent’s legacy, paired with the floral blousons of the Hawaiian shirts paired with strawed hats. The resemblance of rough textures within the collection adds dimension to the otherwise 2-dimensional flat suit. Accessories are the crucial standout, borrowing from nature with shells and the C-shaped buckle belt. Juxtaposing coloured patterns, heptagon rounded sunglasses and silver jewellery with floral trinkets.
