The highly anticipated annual event is finally back, the ninth edition of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) has returned with a twist—combining fashion with heritage, celebrating the talents of local designers but it has also revived the Thread of Heritage, A Truly Malaysian Textiles Exhibition—paying homage to our country’s lush versatile textiles, the exhibition aims to continue raising awareness of local fabrics while inculcating a deeper appreciation for its unique beauty and strong sense of history.
Making a flashy return this year at Pavilion
Kuala Lumpur a er taking the grand spectacle online last year, the 2021 edition showcased a total of 48 homegrown designers’ ready-to-wear collections that took place both digitally and physically. Since its inception in 2013, KLFW has created avenues for Malaysian designers and the local fashion community to come together and express themselves in their most stylish and trendiest ou its while celebrating and honouring each homegrown designers’ collection. Built on the belief of ‘wear local, dress global’, the annual event has propelled many young Malaysian designers into the international fashion arena while building a fashion-savvy community throughout the years.
As the biggest fashion show in Malaysia, KLFW continues to be an advocate for the fashion industry—standing all even during a global pandemic by taking the annual event to our screens in 2021, hosting vi ual shows featuring 60 designers while relaying the key message of revival.
