AN ASPIRING AESTHETE SHOULD KNOW…

-

From practical to playful, delicate to portable, for young and for old, Cartier homeware spans widely, but all are linked by the house’s emblematic codes such as the panther, the double C insignia, and the menagerie, all reflecting the universe of Cartier.

DIABOLO COLLECTION

New colours, materials and features have been introduced for objects in the Diabolo de Cartier collection. From the oiseau libéré (freed bird) to the heart and the red box: Cartier sprinkles the maison’s great symbols on a miniature scale to playfully illustrate a new collection of lively and irresistible objects.

There are handsome notebooks and elegant candle holders, all designed for enjoyment ‒ bringing pleasure to the act of writing for example. Other objects, like a snow globe dedicated to the panther, a card game, a puzzle, or stationery with a bellboy being chased by a panther, are fashioned for amusement. Indeed, it is the idea of sharing amusement with others that make these objects precious gifts at this time of year.

Who wouldn’t be excited to receive a parcel wrapped in crisp white paper and tied with a red Cartier ribbon?

ENTRELACES COLLECTION

Two intertwining Cs form the maison’s interwoven initials. These also take the form of an elegant ribbon that appears on a new collection of porcelain, as well as on burgundy lacquered wood objects, including jewellery boxes, large rectangular watch boxes and small round jewellery boxes.

PANTHERE DE CARTIER COLLECTION

The emblematic panther has embodied Cartier’s creation ever since its first appearance on a watch with panther spots in 1914. Magnetic; she advances, captured in profile, the panther graduated from abstract to figurative representation three years later when it was depicted flanked by cypress trees on a nécessaire gifted by Louis Cartier to Jeanne Toussaint in 1917. This year, the maison’s panther appears on throw pillows, portrayed between two coniferous shrubs, faithful to the design of Toussaint’s nécessaire.

Throughout its history, the panther continues to reinvent itself and appears once again in a contrasting collection of black, green, blue and red. porcelain trinket trays and vases. Paper for large matchboxes. Lacquered wood for a black and white draughts game with a golden finish. Cashmere combined with Merino wool for tone-on-tone cushions and blankets in beige, blue and red. A collection of stylish objects that create refined interior decor based around delicate materials, evoking that extra something to bring beauty into your life.

The same eye for detail in watchmaking and jewel crafts is ever present. The style and iconography is identifiable at first glance, and the selection of luxurious materials: bisque porcelain, delicate paper, cashmere, and lacquered wood, all rendered into sophisticated objets d’art for the trappings that help make life, especially during these challenging times, fell that much more precious.

“IN FACT, WE DO NOT ONLY PRODUCE LUXURY JEWELLERY. I WOULD SAY, MONSIEUR, THAT JEWELLERY LIKE OURS IS AS CAPABLE OF ADORNING A WOMAN’S SHOULDERS WITH A DAZZLING NECKLACE AS IT IS OF FILLING HER HANDBAG WITH A POWDER COMPACT, A MIRROR, A SMALL COMB AND EVEN BUSINESS CARDS, ALL STAMPED WITH THE SAME SEAL OF ORIGINALITY AND ART.” – LOUIS CARTIER
