SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE

THIS YEAR, in celebration of Merdeka Day, Augustman turns to the latest generation of enterprising Malaysian youths who are elevating the nation’s fondest industry ‒ food and beverage ‒ led by Vincent Lua, founder and CEO of one of Malaysia’s fastest-growing Korean fast casual dining chain MyeongDong Topokki. Taking the stage on the cover of our August 2022 issue, the entrepreneur lets us in on his business acumen and the company’s horizontal expansion.

Having satisfied our editorial senses with food entrepreneurship, the Augustman team then moved over to ILHAM Gallery for some art for thought at the inaugural ILHAM Art Show, a triennial exhibition platform initiated to give artists in Malaysia the opportunity to experiment and make new work. Our visit culminated in a special feature with insightful dialogues with the exhibiting artists and a crucial tour d’horizon of the latest narratives of Malaysian art.
