As a young arts and culture journalist in the early 1990s, Eddin Khoo ventured up to Kelantan to write about the cultural politics that was taking place there at the time. He founded PUSAKA in 2002, researching, writing and finding ways to support and revitalise the traditional arts of Malaysia. PUSAKA now partners with 25 communities of traditional performers throughout Malaysia. We are honoured to have Eddin pen our cover story this month ̶ In All His Glory (pg100).

And while this year was no different, we took it upon ourselves to push back our printing deadline in order to make way for one of music and fashion’s foremost trailblazers, bringing you what we consider to be one of Augustman’s most inspiring cover features.

Graced by the glory of rock royalty Amy Search, our September 2022 issue pays due tribute to the legendary rock star-cum-style icon with an evocative piece by the leading custodian of Malaysia’s arts and culture, founder and director of Pusaka, Eddin Khoo. In his hour-and-a-half-long exclusive interview, Eddin captures the long and storied career of Amy that now spans over 40 years ‒ from his humble beginnings to his emotional solo journey, to the band’s historic sold-out concert Endemik in June this year and most recently, 25 August 2022 to be precise, receiving the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) award, which carries the honourable title Datuk, from the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Dr. Mohd Ali Rustam.
