It’ s a panda- mic, and it’ s a fever we don’t mind

C’s lat­est col­lab­o­ra­tion with New York- based streetwear brand Ni co panda has us ina state of eu­phoric ex­cite­ment( yes, that ex­cited) thanks to its su­per cute panda pack­ag­ing and ex­per­i­men­tal colour comb os( peep the two-tone falsies !). Adorable com­pact sa­side, M.A. Cx Nico panda cham­pi­ons di­ver­sity and cre­ativ­ity with­out sac­ri­fic­ing fun and play­ful­ness, ex­plains Ni­co­panda’s founder Ni­cola Formic hetti. He tells# TeamCLEO about work­ing with M. A. C, Asian in­flu­ence sand why it’ s all about the panda.

What was your i nspi­ra­tion f or t his col­lec­tion?

I’ m half Asian and half Euro­pean, so it was im­por­tant tome that this col­lec­tion de­liv­ered a lit­tle bit of East and a lit­tle West. Ul­ti­mately, the panda plays a big part. I orig­i­nally cre­ated t his char­ac­ter to rep­re­sent a sym­bol of cre­ativ­ity and di­ver­sity. It was very im­por­tant to bring the panda into t he de­sign and cre­ative process.

What was t he con­cept be­hind t he prod­ucts and pack­ag­ing?

For the pack­ag­ing, we wanted this to show po­lar op­po­site colours t hat worked to­gether, just like a panda. With t he ac­tual prod­ucts, I wanted to cre­ate some­thing that could go from day tonight. Some­thing fun and funky for any­one who wants to take their makeup to the next level, but will also work for some­one who wears min­i­mal make- up. What is your favourite prod­uct in the col­lec­tion? Does it re­mind you or is it con­nected to any of your past de­signs? I was so im­pressed with the face adorn­ments. The lip­stick in Galac­tic Mint also ex­ceeded my ex­pec­ta­tions. It def­i­nitely is linked back to my de­signs be­cause it’ s soon par with my vibe. There is this strong Asian in­flu­ence and there is some­thing fu­tur­is­tic about the lineup that also feels very mod­ern.
