Triban is the name that the sports supermarket Decathlon uses for its budget bikes. The Triban RC120 has a 6061 aluminium frame and, impressively, a 12k carbon fork. All the cabling is external and the bar is subtly swept-back and flattened on the tops for extra comfort. The geometry is the more relaxed of the two.
For our money Microshift’s gears beat Shimano Tourney’s shifting.
The eight-speed 11-34 cassette provides wide gearing range, while cartridge calliper brakes complete an exceptional kit line-up.
Rack and mudguard fittings plus room for 28mm tyres make this a top-notch choice for commuting with a rack or for year-round training. The 34x34 bottom gear is great for climbing, and the braking’s good too.
Comfortable, good endurance geometry, carbon fork, a genuinely excellent range of eight-speed Microshift gears and calliper cartridge brakes. What’s not to love?
