Diving into the hidden depths of Michelle Williams

ELLE (Malaysia) - - BEHIND THE COVER -

Despite her employment, actress Michelle Williams is not a woman who courts the public eye. She is fiercely private, both out of necessity (in protection of Matilda, her daughter with the late Heath Ledger) and natural preference. She has no official social media presence, and offers no daily updates of her life and projects. So when she does present herself to the world, it’s in a manner of her choosing: movie roles that challenge her, fashion partnerships that excite her, interviews that go beyond the superficial.

We’re proud to have one of those interviews this month, in which Michelle opens up about how she works, how she lives, how she loves. And how she dresses, because her personal ‘young, hip Brooklyn mum’ style is distinctive and coveted: think rumpled shirts, perfect high-waisted jeans and hair that goes from sleek to scruffy with one rake of the hand. On duty, as a Louis Vuitton campaign star she’s often seen in Nicolas Ghesquière’s creations (she wears his short, sporty dresses particularly well). For our cover shoot, we celebrated every incarnation of Michelle’s style, from sweaters to red carpet. And as expected, she amazes in every single one.
