THE TENTACLE STRIKES BACK
Day of the Tentacle Remastered to be Released in “Early 2016”
If you were born in the early 80’s and were relatively in touch with the gaming scene back then, chances are you probably would’ve heard of – and maybe even played – a point-and-click adventure game called Day of the Tentacle, which was launched in 1993. Fast forward 22 years later, and we’ve received word that the classic LucasArts game is being subjected to the everpopular remastering treatment, courtesy of developer Double Fine Productions, who recently worked on restoring another iconic LucasArts title, Grim Fandango.
Day of the Tentacle revolves around three socially-inept teenagers – Bernard Bernoulli, Hoagie, and Laverne – and their quest to stop the game’s antagonist – the Purple Tentacle – from taking over the world. If you have no idea how the Purple Tentacle came to be, you’ll be glad to know that Day of the Tentacle Remastered will be shipped together with its prequel,
Apart from the obligatory improved graphics, Day of the Tentacle Remastered will also feature a remastered soundtrack and sound effects, as well as an audio commentary track by the game’s original creators: Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell, and Clint Bajakian.
If you’re keen on finding out why Day of the Tentacle is often considered a cult classic, you can do so when Day of the Tentacle
Remastered becomes available on the PC, Mac, PS4, and Vita in “early 2016”. While no specific release date has been mentioned thus far, we do at least know that the PlayStation versions of the game will support the Cross-Buy feature.
Day of the Tentacle Remastered will be shipped together with its prequel, Maniac Mansion.
