Nintendo Switch expected to support GameCube games via Virtual Console.
If you needed another legitimate reason to get your hands on the Nintendo Switch, this would be it: Three separate source sources have confirmed to Eurogamer that the Switch will be able to handle Gam GameCube games th through its Virtual Console service. As a matter of fact, Ni Nintendo is said to be prepping three GameCube titles for the Switch: Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Luigi's Mansion. Word on the vine is that Animal Crossing will likely be made available as well. No confirmation on whether titles belonging to other legacy Nintendo platforms – including the NES, SNES, N64, and Nintendo DS – will be offered on the Switch’s Virtual Console, though. But the report by Eurogamer did mention about the possibility of an upgrade program that would allow you to ‘upgrade’ the Virtual Console games you’ve previously purchased for a small fee, rendering them compatible with the Switch’s Virtual Console. The Switch’s Virtual Console is reportedly being worked on by the Nintendo European Research and Development (NERD) team, who were most recently involved with the development of the NES Classic Edition that sold like hot cakes.
