Robert Trent Jones on tackling the lake-edge 15th.

“This monster par 5, which plays 625 yards off the black tees, has Lake Malaren along its entire left side. It is a daunting tee shot with water ready to claim anything short and sand collecting the over struck ball. The bunkers right of the fairway mean the landing area is relatively narrow – around 30 yards – unless you are long enough and brave enough to aim left of the second trap. Off the yellow tees, that is a carry of around 250 yards. Even if you can do that, attempting to reach the peninsula green in two has a small margin for error. It is up to 250 yards to the middle and a draw is the go-to shape. There is some forgiveness offered by the front right bunker but most will opt for a lay-up, favouring the right of the fairway – the fattest part is 120 yards out – to leave a wedge approach with a view up the length of the slightly elevated green, which is long but narrow.”
