PAT PEREZ LANDS THE CIMB CLASSIC
Coming back from a career-threatening shoulder injury, 41-year-old Pat Perez celebrated victory in the CIMB Classic by four shots over compatriot Keegan Bradley.
He started the day with a four-shot lead at TPC Kuala Lumpur and signed for a finalround 69 to become the oldest winner in tournament history.
His four-shot winning margin is the largest on the PGA Tour since Marc Leishman’s victory in the BMW Championship last season during the FedExCup Playoffs.
“Unreal. I think I’m the last guy that expected to win this week, to be honest with you. I did not think I was going to win this week,” Perez said. “I really can’t explain it, it’s been an amazing 12 months. I can’t explain it, but I hope it continues.”
A delighted Perez added: “I’ll be here every year. Every year of the tournament, I’ll be here. It’s been very good to me. The tournament’s been fantastic,”
