STEELE’S TITLE AGAIN
Brendan Steele used his experience from the previous season to great advantage.
Starting two shots behind the leaders, he rallied to a 3-under-par 69 on Sunday for a two-shot win over Tony Finau, who could have got into a playoff if not for a double bogey on the 14th hole.
Steele had a roller coaster ride on the inward nine after a bogey free front nine. “You can’t just figure out your shot a minute before you play it while somebody else is hitting because it changes by the time that comes up,” Steele said, referring to the windy conditions. “So you have to have a sense as you’re getting into it whether you’ve got the right club or not. … Sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn’t. Today it did.”
