A peek into Katie Holmes’s handbag and beautiful life

What is the secret to looking as youthful as you did in your days as Joey from Dawson’s Creek? Happiness, and being good to yourself. Does being good to yourself include getting enough of your super-foods as well? I try to eat organic when I can – kale, lots of salad, brown rice, tofu, and fruit – and not have too much sugar. Although, I do occasionally go to Shake Shack and Georgetown Cupcakes. How would you pamper yourself after a long day? I exfoliate, put on a firming mask for an hour, and then take a shower. After that, I apply serum and so much night cream it looks like I had poured olive oil on my face. Your skin looks amazing. Do you use foundation? I’ve been wearing Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation. The name of the product says it all. It makes you look luminous without looking cakey. This one is great because it’s easy to apply, and doesn’t look like you just had your make-up done, too. You have your own fashion line – Holmes & Yang – have you ever thought about breaking into the beauty business? Honestly, I don’t think I could ever switch places with Bobbi [Brown]. I’ve actually helped some friends get ready for weddings and events before, but it’s a lot of pressure. I would do it again, though, if there was a beauty emergency. What have you picked up from Bobbi, aside from her r great make-up tips? Bobbi is so efficient! When she has an idea, she executes it immediately. She’s not afraid of anything. She takes risks. We can all learn and be inspired by that. How do you bring more beauty into your day-to-day life? I like to paint and go to museums. I love fresh flowers, so I usually buy them in the flower district. I love taking pictures of things that inspire me as I walk around the city. I always feel like a tourist in New York because I’m always seeing new things. Speaking of new things, any recent discoveries to share? For so long, I’ve been into nude lipsticks. I just tried Bobbi’s red lip stain and I love it. It’s like “Oh! I can do this!” As a working mother, you’re always on the go. What can we find in your bag on a typical day? Once, when I used to carry huge totes, my friends asked me to show them everything in my bag. It was embarrassing. I had two separate containers of dry shampoo, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, a blush brush, a playbill from the theatre, a script, and an extra pair of shoes. I had to cut back. Now, I carry a smaller bag – with my Bobbi & Katie palette, of course. I try to be a small purse kind of girl.
