The modern woman’s anti-ageing regime starts with serious protection from the heat.

It is true that the littlest things count – especially when it comes to keeping your complexion bright and radiant 24/7. Futhermore, from close proximity to the bedside lamp as you read at night, to work-related stress, there are myriad ways that external stressors work to age skin. Stay out of the sun as much as you might, yet 10 years of research at Sulwhasoo has unearthed surprising findings about the body’s internal heat and its ageing effect on the skin.

“You don’t have to be exposed to UV rays to get the same sort of skin damage,” reveals Choo Jeong Han, senior associate of Amore Pacific Asian Herbs cosmetic research team. Heat inflames the skin and increases collagen’s decomposing enzymes, thereby leading to wrinkles and loss of firmness. Blood vessels also expand, leading to unsightly redness of the skin.

“Melanin formation and oxidative damage occur under UV and infrared exposure,” adds Sulwhasoo’s senior associate researcher Jung-Han Choo. “Snowise EX UV Protection Cream has strong protective activity against UV (SPF 47, PA +++) and is formulated with white ginseng saponins to reduce the production of melanin by exposure to, if any, remaining UV.”

Again, UV rays are not the only thing raising the temperature. Experts at Sulwhasoo recommend upping the ante with suncare that goes the extra mile. Consider these smart options.
