Backstage before the show at the Taj Palace Hotel Bulgari has crossed the globe to open its latest store at the luxury landmark DLF Emporio Mall in New Dehli, India. Carrying iconic collections such as Serpenti and Lucea, the boutique is just one of the Roman jeweller’s many milestones for its 130th anniversary.
Pairing its coveted designs with Indian high fashion, Bulgari teamed up with Kolkatabased couturier Anamika Khanna for a riveting showcase at the Taj Palace Hotel. In a palette of warm gold and ivory, one opulent creation after another came down the runway, adorned with high jewellery pieces of diamonds galore. Khanna also collaborated with contemporary set designer Sumant Jayakrishnan on the stunning wall-to-wall images of Bulgari’s iconic clientele – think screen sirens Elizabeth Taylor, Ingrid Bergman, and Sophia Loren, all of whom favoured Bulgari sparkle.
Notable guests included award-winning Bollywood royalty Sonam Kapoor and Arjun Rampal (of Saawariya and Raajneeti fame, respectively), as well as the most powerful of New Delhi society: publishing tycoon Aveek Sarkar, industrialist Sanjiv Goenka, as well as Ravi Thakran, LVMH group president and managing partner of L Capital Asia. As a sumptuous dinner of rare truffles, oceanfresh oysters and lobsters, creamy burrata, and artichokes was served, songbird Talia Bentson serenaded the crowd with a repertoire of memorable jazz hits.
