KICKING I N TO HIGH GEAR
From photo shoots to a day out with the girls, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé proves to be the ultimate ride, as discovered by Lim Ai Chiin, lover of luxury cars and founder of Cu evolution.
Mercedes-Benz unleashed the fierce C-Class Coupé and I was front and centre to experience the mechanical wonders of this sleek new ride. I’ve been wanting a new car for awhile, or rather, have been toying with the idea of having one in place of my very sturdy Mercedes ( Yes, another Mercedes). Being offered the chance to take the new C-Class Coupé out for a four-day spin, I jumped at the opportunity with eagerness. Delivered straight to my door, I was immediately taken by the sexy shade of blue and its smooth sporty frame. You could say it churned up emotions like when receiving an orange box from Hermès—I couldn’t wait to jump right in. As I took a mini walk around the car—with little “oohs” and “ahhs” going on in my head—to examine the sensuous design of my new friend on the road (albeit temporary), I couldn’t help being drawn to the diamond radiator grille on the front. Definitely a fashionable touch of luxury to the car’s already impressive façade. An avid believer of the beauty of fine details, it created a strong impression on me and successfully weaved its way into my heart and mind even before the drive began.
DAY 1
After several minutes of admiring my new ride (again!), it was finally time to take myself out on a little coffee date. The simplistic elegance of the interior is a testament of the Mercedes-Benz design and its philosophy of sensual purity. It was polished yet sporty, and to put it in a fashion term, the true definition of the athleisure trend on the rise right now. The upholstery amps up the luxe feel of the C-Class Coupé, while maintaining a contemporary cool feel; unique colour combinations such as saddle brown and porcelain. The quick ride to Kenny Hills Bakers for my cup of coffee was so serene. With its quiet hum, the car was perfect for the time alone I sorely needed.
DAY 2
It was the weekend—the perfect time to truly test drive my new ride. I took the opportunity to play around with the sound system, connecting it via Bluetooth to my iPhone, and the sound was fantastic. No sooner did I make my way out of the house did it start pouring. What was supposed to be a chilled morning was suddenly becoming a nightmare as the rain poured hard and long on the ground. Coupled with an unusual morning traffic, my usual 15-minute drive turned into a slow and one-and-a-half-hour journey. I didn’t have to fret, though. The slippery roads were easy to drive on, thanks to the brake drying function regularly wiping the moisture from the brake discs to make full braking power instantly available.
DAY 3
It’s a day full of catch-ups with the girls; time for a real test of endurance! The C-Class Coupé is fully equipped with selectable driving experiences through five of its Dynamic Select modes— Comfort, ECO, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. Our first pit stop was Cassey Gan’s studio to collect some private orders, as well as a little tête-à-tête with the designer herself. Stopping by at Cassey’s is never an easy task as we always get distracted by her clothes. Our next trip was to Starhill Gallery to collect a special something and then to the Shangri-La for a quick meeting. Parking can be such a drag but the light steering wheel and easy maneuvering made it a whole lot easier, especially in confined spaces. We ended our girl’s day out at Solaris Mont Kiara with a much-needed spa session. What could be better than getting a relaxing hot stone massage to ease those knots?
DAY 4
Phew—the week flew by in a flash! I’m beginning to feel a little sad about saying goodbye to my gorgeous friend on the road. However, there was no time to dwell in such unhappy thoughts—I had to get ready for a shoot. While loading the items into the car, I realised I could easily fit a luggage full of clothes, our mannequin, and shoe boxes in the boot, with room to spare. It’s every fashion girl’s dream!
