The
LONGCHAMP
For Spring/Summer ’18, Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp’s artistic director, channelled her inner gallerist, whose days are spent traversing the culturally rich Rue des Beaux-Arts and the bohemian arrondissement of Boulevard Saint-Germain. With a nod to tribal art, Longchamp’s urban sophisticate was given a laid-back spin. Consider a safari jacket—Delafontaine’s starting point for the collection—updated in suede or cotton gabardine, and worn with a smooth leather patchwork skirt. Summer dresses in embroidered lace were crafted for sunny promenades by the Seine, while leather, the cornerstone of the historic maison, was transformed into soft fringes on a silk stole. As with any Longchamp collection, accessories stole the spotlight, like the Madeleine and Effrontée, updated with touches of indigenous art.
