Chanel pays homage to its iconic matelassé quilting in the most ingenious of ways for the latest Coco Crush fine jewellery collection. By Amy Yasmine.
If you thought the crosses on Chanel’s now-iconic Coco Crush fine jewellery collection looked familiar, you had good reason to believe that. An homage to its patrimonial matelassé—think Chanel’s classic 2.55s—this fine jewellery collection adapted the maison’s iconic quilting technique into graphic crosses on delicate necklaces and dazzling bracelets. Exquisite and timeless, each piece is designed to be worn stacked, layered, or combined, giving the wearer the creative freedom that Gabrielle Chanel once championed.
First launched in 2015, the collection has since reached cult status, adorning celebrities such as Kristen Stewart, Margot Robbie, and Pom Klementieff. But this year, the maison has stepped up its game for the 2018 Coco Crush releases, amping up Chanel’s fine jewellery arsenal. Necklaces are looped and strung between pendants, rings are splintered into multiple glistening bands, while bracelets are sleek and chic. Crafted from yellow, white, or beige 18-karat golds, the collection is further exalted with dazzling diamonds lending their splendour to dainty bands and intricate chains.
It is here where rules are meant to be broken; shimmering golds paired with lustrous silvers, or layers of gilded chains on top one another. More is definitely more in this regard. After all, Mademoiselle Chanel once said, “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” G06-07 & 105, Ground & First Floor, Suria KLCC. Tel: 03 2726 1818. www.chanel.com/en_my
