“Not too many words, it’s not a serious show,” Miuccia Prada said, after the debut of Prada Resort ’19. “It’s a kind of fantasy of reality.” What reality that may be could be explained through pared-down silhouette­s, which brought to mind Mrs Prada’s earlier collection­s from the ’90s, like the Spring/ Summer ’97 collection, where diaphanous organzas and tulles were tailored into maxi sheath dresses and slips. Today, those pieces are embellishe­d, layered, and paired with brocade minis or oversized trapper hats. Consider this minimalism for the Insta-generation.
