POWER THROUGH

-

In the business of building a holistic community through the medium of fitness, Yi Ping Teo has galvanised her own niche in the fabric of our local fitness industry. Levelling up from instructor to owner of newly introduced fitness studio, PWRHOUSE, her aim is and will always be to create a safe space for growth, change, and empowerment within the community.

Conceptualised in the midst of a pandemic, Ping initially took to Instagram to simply share her passion for fitness and movement. Several IG Live workouts later, each raking in over a thousand participants, she birthed the PWRHOUSE online subscription, that would eventually lead to the development of her first full-fledge fitness studio.” I've always been into fitness, and if anything, it is my release, my escape, my freedom. Through fitness, I want to create a platform to be able to share my experiences with everyone and anyone. Every single part of this journey has been nothing but a blessing, and it has only driven me to want to do more to help change lives, as it has changed mine indefinitely.” She reveals.

“PWRHOUSE is all about building positive habits, encouraging a healthier lifestyle and creating a lasting impact on everyone. There are a lot of individuals out there who are afraid or do not know much about fitness, so we welcome people of all levels, and we try to incorporate fun and exciting workouts that will eventually lead to a permanent change in lifestyle.”

The saying “there is no I in team” is the perfect sentiment to the PWRHOUSE culture, with Ping accrediting her instant success to the team around her. Consisting of Lee Chao Wee, Han Pin Ma, Jeremiah Tan and herself, they are continuously striving to connect people with the same goals, interests, and collectively create an environment for personal transformation.

But building this new-founded empire—especially amidst the tribulations of lockdowns and safety restrictions—posed its own unique complications. “There were so many uncertainties, obstacles, risks, challenges to ideas and plans. We weren't sure of what possibilities lay ahead of us, but what we knew was that PWRHOUSE was always what we wanted as a team. We knew that through our beliefs of what fitness means to us, our mission and our goals, we still committed to what we said we wanted from the start - and that is to always bring people together - and that is exactly what we did.” Ping acknowledges that “Nothing is ever easy, but nothing is impossible—you just have to go all in with the right people, the right mindset, and a strong urge to just push through anything.”

Never one to be stingy on advice and always choosing to empower those around her, she dutifully shares to always be unafraid, unapologetic and to be you. “Turn your fear into confidence, your setbacks into comebacks, your excuses into decisions, your mistakes into learnings. Your work matters, your consistency matters, your ideas matter, your presence matters. You just got to believe in you.”
