The Flower of Spring
Van Cleef & Arpels welcomes the season with new blooms from the Maison’s delicate Frivole collection.
Florals, for spring? Why not? Especially when they come from the garden of Van Cleef & Arpels. This season welcomes six new additions to the Maison’s celebrated Frivole collection, identified by heart-shaped petals that appear to quiver and dance in the wind.
Following its introduction to the collection in 2020, rose gold continues to lend its soft tones to the Frivole flowers this year, comprising of a triptych of mini models of a pair of earrings with matching pendant and bracelet as well as small models of earrings and pendant, and a Frivole Between the Finger ring.
Deceptively straightforward, each piece of jewellery in the collection is the result of the Maison’s savoir-faire dedicated to radiance: to better magnify these delicate blooms, Van Cleef & Arpels’ expert jewellers utilise openwork construction, creating holes in the gold structure to allow for the passing of light through the embedded diamonds. Speaking of, each stone—be it the single diamond set in the heart of a corolla, or the round diamonds paved on the petals—was selected by the
Maison’s gemologists based on the most stringent of criteria: from D to F for colour, and IF to VVS for clarity.
The meticulous attention to detail even extends to the delicately polished gold threads and bezels that highlight the paved diamond surfaces, creating a glittering harmony between the precious stones and rose gold, that play like a poetic tribute to nature’s beauty.
But the tribute doesn’t end there. Once again, Van Cleef & Arpel’s sought the talent of French artist, Alexandre Benjamin Navet, winner of the Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon Van Cleef & Arpels 2017, to create a series of short films that explore the graphic petals of Frivole creations. The Frivole could very well be the flower of the season, and would make for the perfect choice to add some understated elegance and poetic charm to your outfit come Eid.
