Most-Instagrammed Award ICELAND

Herworld (Malaysia) - - HER LIVING -

Why? The country has been working towards becoming the world’s first to make equal pay for women a necessity. Last year on International Women’s Day, Iceland’s Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson announced his plans: companies with more than 25 employees are required to follow the law by way of undergoing certification and keep to strict pay policies every three years. Speaking of equality, women make up nearly 50 per cent of the Parliament’s seats.

Where to visit? Iceland has seen a distinctive tourism boom in the past few years. Here are some off the beaten track places worth a visit.

• For the avid adventurer: visit the abandoned DC plane crash site at Sólheimasandur Beach.

• For the happy camper: spend a night out with Mother Nature under the stars at the lush span of greenery that is Þakgil Roof Canyon.

• For the architecturally inclined: rising to tower at 74.5 meters high, the Lutheran parish church Hallgrimskirkja is a sight to behold.
