• 500g lean minced beef • 1 red onion, diced • 2 garlic cloves, crushed • 1 egg • 50ml olive oil • Salt and pepper • § tsp Dijon mustard • 1 burger bun • 10g butter • 50g Cheddar cheese • 10g iceberg lettuce • 10g gherkin, sliced • 10g tomato, sliced METHOD: 1. Heat oil in a frying pan and add diced onions. 2. Reduce the heat and let onions sweat slowly. Add garlic to ensure onions don’t burn and become bitter. 3. In a mixing bowl, break up the minced beef with your fingers. 4. Once onions and garlic have cooled slightly, combine them with the beef and mix thoroughly. 5. Add salt, pepper and Dijon mustard. 6. Crack in the egg and mix right away. 7. Cut bun in half. Spread butter on each side of bun and cook until golden brown. 8. Cook beef patty (not too well done). Place on bun and layer with cheese, lettuce, onions, gherkin, and tomato. 9. Serve when still hot.
