a bit about yourself?

ARCANGELO RUssO: Since young I have always been passionate about tailoring. When I was in elementary school I used to work in a shop in the afternoons, until one day my father told me I had to choose between my studies and work. I chose to concentrate on my career instead. I went to tailoring school in order to acquire the necessary skills in becoming a professional tailor. My first job was with a local shop in Naples. A few years later I managed to open my own shop. I was doing well in my business until I decided to embark on a different path. And that was when I began to work for Kiton.

What does your role in Kiton entail? What are some of the challenges you have faced?

TW: AR: My role in Kiton is to check and supervise the cutting phase, which is the most important and difficult phase in the process of making a suit. Being a master tailor means being able to make a suit from scratch. That involves taking measurements and then fitting them into the design of the suit. The biggest challenge of this job is making a custom-made suit. This is because it is vital to make sure that all the details are taken care of to avoid any mistake.

What does it take for one to be a master tailor?

TW: AR: I think that the most important thing is the experience. Learning how to cut, prepare and make a suit is not easy and it takes years of experience. I have been a tailor since I was seven years old, so it actually took me my whole life to get to where I am today.

Could you please describe in detail the process of making a suit, from designing it right till it’s sold in the boutique?
