Manly Preparations

While much work goes into preparing the bride, the groom can’t be ignored. Here are some tips to ensure he looks his best as well on the big day

Don’t forget the groom! Here are ways to relax and prepare him so he’s ready for the cameras too

There are a plethora of books and guides for the bride on how to prepare for her wedding, and she is constantly surrounded by generous friends and family gifting her spa and facial sessions plus beauty tips. Mostly, if not all the time, the groom goes about his dayto-day business without anything out of the ordinary—all because they are notoriously known for being slapdash or low-maintenance. We beg to differ! Yes, the makeup artist does dust a little bit of powder here and there before the ceremony begins, but we do believe that the groom deserves some pre-wedding pampering too.

GO FOR A FACIAL

While it’s not advisable to go for a facial so close to the wedding date, get an appointment booked a few weeks before to get the dirt, grime and blackheads out of your skin. If your bride’s spa has a couple’s package, that’s even better!

MAN-ICURE SHOULD BE IN THE MIX

Those talons shouldn’t get all the attention for how unkempt they are, but instead people should admire how shiny and tidy they look. Certain salons or spas do offer manicure and pedicure sessions especially for men, such as The Nail Parlour’s Manly Manicure package. Plus, there will be moments when cameras would be zoomed on your fingers, like during the ring exchange!

HYDRATE YOURSELF

Yes, the wedding is indeed a time of celebration but we’d rather you skimp on the alcohol and instead opt for juices or detox drinks, so you would be feeling your best in time for the big day. Plus, you would want to be comfortable in your tux instead of shifting and readjusting to accommodate the bloat!

GO FOR A HAIRCUT OR SHAVE

But don’t do this a day before the wedding! Allow a few days to a week for a little growth. Better yet, pay a visit to Truefitt & Hill, as they have a ‘Groom the Groom’ experience, which offers tips for the right styling and cut along with a mini facial, massage plus nail services to give you a favorable impression.

A LITTLE BIT OF MAKEUP WON’T HURT

We don’t mean bright colours or blushes, we mean minimal yet effective makeup such as Chanel’s Boy De Chanel collection. The products consist of essential needs such as a foundation, a lip balm and an eyebrow pencil. Just enough to enhance the skin, smooth lips and define brows.
