A Classic Darling
Its simple and clean designs may be seen as ‘safe’ by the bold spirited, but Titoni has long made its name in crafting classical timepieces that will never go out of style
In three years’ time, Swiss brand Titoni will be celebrating its 100th anniversary, which is no easy feat considering the brand’s independence as a family-owned group. Founded in 1919 by Fritz Schluep, the longevity of the brand is admirable considering the fact that the brand produced watches that are simple and classic in design. Titoni’s current CEO, Daniel Schluep, dismisses the perception that the brand’s ideals are ‘old-fashioned’. The third generation of the family to carry the business torch, Schluep emphasises, “As with timeless art, be it literature or painting, a classic watch is never outdated. As long as you keep pace with modern technology and ideas, Titoni watches will always feel novel, and every one of our clients will undoubtedly know that he or she is wearing a Titoni watch.” All it takes is a glance at the brand’s most recent creations to affirm this. The latest model in the Master series is a certified chronometer, like its predecessors, and is recognised by its anthracite-coloured sunray brushed dial. There is also the new Slenderline timepiece which proves that a man can wear a delicate timepiece without lowering his masculine quotient. With an ultra-thin case and a clean 38mm dial, the timepiece is arresting for its slender bracelet that combines the use of fine rose gold PVD and steel links to create a pattern that complements its slim size. Another secret of Titoni’s success lies in the brand’s strong relationships with its partners and clients. “We are active in more than 25 markets around the globe. Although our world has long become a global village, every place has its unique rhythm of time. Titoni is an international brand that integrates the needs and cultures of our clients worldwide into refined watch products,” says Schluep proudly. Judging by its track record, we are certain Schluep will be leading the charge for a new chapter in Titoni’s future as it closes in on its centennial mark in 2019.
