Eventually and Finally

-

We often hear stories about fate, time and love— about how what’s meant to be will always find a way. Both Matthew Lim and Clairyn Chong are living testaments to that belief, as it led to their sweet romance and subsequent wedding

For both Matthew Lim and Clairyn Chong, it was only a matter of time before they would have eventually crossed paths. They were both studying in Melbourne, Australia at the same time during their university days, but only met when they were colleagues, back at Malaysia in 2009, and only then began seeing each other. Seven years later and after much serious preparation, Matthew finally proposed with the aid of his friends, at a hotel in Kl—starting off with rose petals on the floor, red and white balloons and personalised message boards that led Clairyn to Matthew, who was waiting patiently for her in the room with a bouquet of roses in his hands. It was then decided that their wedding would take place at Peppers Creek Winery in Australia. Clairyn had wanted something ‘dreamy’ that wasn’t too common, and she got it. Plus, both Matthew and Clairyn were wine appreciators themselves and thought it would be a great experience for both the couple and guests at their celebration. When the groom and bride were asked about how they felt during their walk down the aisle, Clairyn’s answer was a testament to how proud she felt, as she said, “My heart was thumping, and I was admiring the hard work I had put into making this whole wedding fall in place. Matthew’s answer was concise, yet compelling.” “Pure joy,” he simply said. The intimate space was complemented by beautiful spring weather during the third quarter of the year, and a total of 75 attendees comprising close friends plus family members, including Bryan Loo, Joon Ong and Vincent Tan who flew down to Australia to join in the revelry of their beloved friends’ union. The picturesque event spanned over two days, with a series of celebrations including a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, the gate crashing game and of course the church ceremony and dinner reception. Clairyn remarked that some of their favourite aspects and memorable moments were “the perfect weather, definitely the horse carriage, when we said our vows and when we did an impromptu dance during the reception. And yes, having it in the barrel room was also an amazing experience.”
