CHAGALL: THE BREAKTHROUGH YEARS, 1911-1919
KUNSTMUSEUM BASEL SEPTEMBER 15 TO JANUARY 21
The exhibition focuses on the early works of one of the most important modernists, illustrating the evolution of the Russian-french artist in the early phase of his career. Chagall lived in Paris from 1911 to 1914 and then in Russia for the following eight years, unable to return to France after the outbreak of World War I. The show highlights the deep, often divergent influences the two countries had on his creative method. kunstmuseumbasel.ch
