For Lancôme, its founder Armand Petitjean had always made the timeless and infinitely beautiful rose his muse. And until today, the brand retains that history and inspiration in the form of the Lancôme Rose, the Centifolia and the Damascena. Through Lancôme’s signature processes, several different rose extracts are carefully selected and magnified to give birth to the luxurious Absolue range. This year, the brand is adding more value to their rosy (pun intended) history by introducing two new creations to its Absolue Precious Cells range—creations that honour and pay tribute to their flower. Thus resulting in the Nourishing and Revitalising Rose Mask and the Revitalising Rose Lotion, both of which are suitable for all skin types, even oily and combination skin type. So what can we expect out of this breakthrough in beauty and science? Plenty, with exceptional skin regeneration being the most potent quality of the range. So how is such a rich essence retrieved from the rose and delivered to your skin? Laboratoires Lancôme uses cuttingedge extraction processes—including the cold distillation of the rose, fermogenesis (a process exclusive to the brand) and microfluidics encapsulation—to capture the active ingredient of the rose and extract it without causing any damage. Using another state-of-the-art extraction method known as subcritical CO2, where liquid CO2 is brought to 31°C to achieve its supercritical state between liquid and gas, it is transferred to an extractor containing the rose petals and a separator, where it is then turned into a gaseous state. At this point, the active and rich ingredient dubbed the Rose Nectar, responsible for skin regeneration and the gentle soothing effects on skin, is successfully collected. Infused with genuine rose petals, the Revitalising Rose Mask is rich, fresh and scented with Tea Garden— Absolue’s signature fragrance. The Revitalising Rose Lotion, on the other hand, is comfortingly fresh and discreetly scented, and it comes in a light gel texture infused with real rose petals that transform into a liquid as it touches the skin.
