AN EVENTFUL WEEK

There was a culmination of events that led up to the wedding ceremony—all scheduled within a week, to make it easier for guests who were flying in from overseas. The official registration of marriage took place first, at the home of the bride, which was witnessed by close friends and family members. Three days later, also at Dr Priyya’s private residence, the nalanga ceremony took place; this is where the bride is bathed and blessed before she embarks on her new journey in life. That same day was also the pre-wedding celebration, which took place at The Glasshouse in Seputeh. Themed Bollywood Night, the celebration saw guests dressed to the nines, with the then-bride-to-be looking gorgeous in a mint-green lengha from Bombay. Deemed one of the highlights of the night, a number of close friends did a performance which was joined in by Priyya. Then Satyakumar performed as well, to Priyya’s astonishment. “I didn’t only manage to surprise her, but also myself with my newly discovered dance abilities,” Satyakumar admitted, laughingly.
