Fans of Blancpain can now make a beeline to the source to get their fix, now that the Swiss watch manufacturer has opened its first brick-and-mortar business in Suria KLCC. An apt choice of location, the shopping mall and tourist attraction in the city’s Golden Triangle caters to the brand sensitive travellers and an affluent crowd. Outfitted with polished cherry wood, woven carpets, Emeralite lamps plus museum-like display stands, every 84 square metres of the space is warm and welcoming, even to the novice collector. Meanwhile, on further shores, IWC Schaffhausen marked the opening of its new Manufakturzentrum with much fanfare. Occupying some 13,500 square metres, the production plant will allow IWC to meet the growing demands of its customers. Assembled from scratch in just 21 months, the facility also serves an educational purpose. “The building has more to offer than just optimal conditions for production and excellent working conditions for our employees,” explained Christoph GraingerHerr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. “It also embodies the spirit of the IWC brand and allows visitors from all over the world to see up close how our manufacture movements and cases are produced.”
