Following the Red String

As fate would have it, Tan Hong Lim and Chan Le Yee were meant to be—for whether near nor far, they never lost touch and ultimately, came back to each other

-

Not many believe in fairy tales, but when it came to the romance of Tan Hong Lim and Chan Le Yee, it was hard not to. They had known each other from secondary school—since Form One, to be exact—and they maintained a steady friendship ever since that time, with both graduating from Sri Cempaka, Cheras. Even during their pursuit of tertiary education, with Le Yee being in Sydney and Hong Lim in the UK, they still kept in touch. Despite the differences in time zones they had the Internet, which kept them both in the loop regarding each other’s lives. Perhaps, the friendship was waiting for the right time to blossom into something else. The right time was the year 2011, when they both decided to start dating. Then seven years later, the couple officially tied the knot on a beautiful Sunday evening at St Regis Kuala Lumpur’s grand ballroom. The ambience was filled with romance—purple and pink flowers cast a dreamy glow throughout the entire space, setting the mood for the couple who were beaming as they mingled with the other guests in the foyer, who were offering their congratulations. Their pre-wedding album was on display for guests to flip through, and as an added treat, attendees also got to take photos of themselves at a booth, and had it printed with the hashtag #Sayyeestolim adorned on it. After indulging in cocktails and sweet treats, guests were ushered into the ballroom where the reception and the cake-cutting ceremony began.
