Cotton Candy Success: TOMO KOIZUMI

Marie Claire (Malaysia) - - Fashion -

Tomo Koizumi exploded onto the fashion scene with his enigmatic cotton candy-like dresses. His creations are not for the meek and faint-hearted. Lush, colourful and other-worldly, Tomo Koizumi’s distinctive style takes one’s breath away in a heartbeat. Although he had dressed Lady Gaga and several Japanese pop stars, the designer only gained worldwide attention when his works of art were stumbled upon by stylist, Katie Grand. Through this fateful connection, the designer presented his debut FW19 collection at Marc Jacob’s store in Madison Avenue for New York Fashion Week, where the collection was met with rave reviews. To date, he has dressed Miley Cyrus and Hong Kong actress and singer, Miriam Yeung. Two of his special creations have also been exhibited at the MET museum (one piece remains as a permanent collection at the museum).
