Pos Malaysia to launch stamps promoting Kedah, Kelantan

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd (Pos Malaysia) will issue its Tourist Destinations — Kedah and Kelantan — stamp series to stamp collectors on July 27.

The inaugural issuance of the stamp series is in conjunction with the tourism campaign, Visit Kedah and Kelantan Year, this year.

Its group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said the stamp series would feature popular tourist spots in Kedah and Kelantan, in support of Tourism Malaysia’s travel campaign.

Shukrie said collectors should not miss the chance to get this stamp series.

Pos Malaysia Stamp and Philately Unit head Diyana Lean Abdullah said Kedah’s setenant stamps featured images of the Padi Museum/Menara Alor Star and Stone Boxes/Lembah Bujang, while the se-tenant stamps for Kelantan featured the Handicraft Village and Craft Museum/songket.

Each stamp carries an 80 sen denomination. The se-tenant issue is RM1.60 per pair.

“The cancellation mark stamps will feature Kedah’s padi stalk and Kelantan’s spinning top (gasing) as both are believed to be the best elements to represent the two states,” Diyana said.

“The Tourist Destinations stamp series will feature miniature sheets with two stamps featuring Pulau Langkawi (Kedah) and Pantai Bisikan Bayu (Kelantan).

“Each piece will carry a RM2 denomination each and will be priced at RM4.25 per piece.

“First Day Covers, inclusive of a brochure, will be sold at 55 sen each, stamps at RM2.97, while the folders are priced at RM6.35 each,” she said, adding that the complete set of the stamp series is priced at RM51.10 each.
