EDUCATION EXCELLENCE: Option to buy Jade Hills property after 30-year period

GAMUDA Land Sdn Bhd, having invested RM63 million in building a school on a 2.43ha plot in Jade Hills, here, is leasing the property to Eaton International School for 30 years.

“We had invested RM38 million in the facilities and another RM25 million in ancillary fees over the past year,” said its chief operating officer Ngan Chee Meng.

“It’s designed to accommodate 1,200 students. We are leasing it to Eaton International School for 30 years, with an option to purchase it then,” he said at the launch of new the Eaton International School campus by Deputy Education Minister Chong Sin Woon, here, yesterday.

The decision to open the school at Jade Hill was made three years ago.

“The British curriculum at Eaton is delivered by experienced expatriate teachers,” said Eaton International School chief executive officer Datuk Felician Teo.

This was an important benchmark for the school, he said, because without staff members who were themselves schooled and trained in the Cambridge curriculum, the school’s standards and ethos would be compromised. Today, Eaton International School encompasses Pre-school Level to International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Level at Year 11. Its students sit for the Cambridge University International Examinations.

“We are excited to partner Gamuda Land in providing excellent education for our children. I have myself lived in Jade Hills the past five years and the lush greenery makes

my 45-minute morning walks invigorating,” said Teo.

Gamuda Land, the property development arm of Gamuda Bhd, launched the 148ha Jade Hills development in 2008.

The gated-and-guarded residential enclave has 12 theme gardens and lakes with names such as Misty Lake, Willow Sweeps and Water Spring.

Jade Hills is accessible from four

major highways — Kuala LumpurSeremban highway, SILK Expressway, South Klang Valley Expressway and Cheras-Kajang Expressway.

Today, Ngan said, Jade Hills had evolved to become an exemplary botanical living space with vast greenery and serene lakes surrounding grand villa houses, premium bungalows, serviced high-rises and commercial lots in a heritage-meetsmodernism setting.
