MORE than 730,000 residents around Taman Melawati are in for an exciting new addition to their booming community, located just minutes away from their homes.

The new Melawati Mall, the first major shopping mall established in the neighbourhood, unveiled 11 tenants yesterday.

The mall will be officially opened in the second quarter of next year.

The unveiling of the brands was witnessed by more than 150 guests at an event called “Excitement Unlocked @ Melawati Mall”.

Among the mall tenants are Toys “R” Us, Golden Screen Cinemas, SenQ and MPH Bookstores.

The shopping mall can house more than 250 retail shops.

Sime Darby CapitaLand (Melawati Mall) Sdn Bhd general manager Keith Low said: “The mall is designed for different mix of retailers. This is done to maximise their appeal to shoppers.”

With its strategic location near international schools and higher education institutions, Melawati Mall also promised to be a “hotspot” for students, Low added.

He said Melawati Mall would have 1,900 parking lots. With eight floors of retail space, he said, the shopping mall would be able to fulfil the expectations of the community.

“As the first major mall in this area, Melawati Mall will meet the under-served residents of Taman Melawati and its neighbourhoods.

“Our mall will enhance the attractiveness of the Melawati area as a place to live and shop,” he added.
