CONFIDENT: Terengganu rider eyes clean sweep after winning individual time trial gold

MOHAMAD Nur Aiman Mohd Zariff raced away with the Malaysia Games 40km individual time trial title in Kuching yesterday, and promptly said he is eyeing three more gold medals.

The 18-year-old Terengganu rider clocked 56mins 17.753secs, while silver was won by Johor‘ rider’s Eiman Firdaus (56:27.484s). Bronze went to another Johor rider, Nur Aiman Rusli (56:38.108s).

Nur Aiman’s pet event is the road race and that’s where his experience of having riden in Le Tour de Langkawi will come in handy.

“I’m was not the favourite in this event but gave my best and this is also my best personal time in the 40kms individual time trial,” said Nur Aiman.

Nur Aiman will be competing in the team time trial, road race and criterium over the next few days.

The product of Terengganu Cycling will be competing in his final Malaysia Games and hopes to bow out with a bang.

“I came here to win four gold medals for Terengganu and barring any illness, I will achieve it. I feel very comfortable after rigorous training, and am at the top of my fitness as well.”

Terengganu have targeted seven gold medals from cycling, and if Nur Aiman delivers all four, they might just surpass their target.
