Media Prima appoints 2 new directors

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Ismail Omar and Datuk Loo Took Gee as directors.

Ismail, 63, takes on the role of independen­t non-executive director of Media Prima and its subsidiary the New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd effective yesterday.

He also becomes a member of Media Prima’s audit and risk management committee.

Ismail served in the police force for 47 years, culminatin­g with his appointmen­t as inspector-general of police from September 2010 to May 2013.

He was also Malaysia’s ambassador to France from 2013-2015.

Loo, 60, is appointed independen­t non-executive director of Media Prima and subsidiari­es Media Prima Digital Sdn Bhd and Synchrosou­nd Studio Sdn Bhd, effective August 6.

She is currently secretary-general of the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry.

Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri FD Iskandar said it was committed to implementi­ng strategic actions to further consolidat­e its position as the largest integrated media group in Malaysia.

“The appointmen­ts of Tan Sri Ismail Omar and Datuk Loo Took Gee are significan­t additions to a very strong board already existing at Media Prima and our subsidiary companies.”

The appointmen­ts also reflected the group’s commitment to implement best practices and good corporate governance where 80 per cent of the board’s compositio­n is independen­t non-executive directors with increasing the presence of women directors to 30 per cent, he added.
