Media Prima appoints 2 new directors
KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Ismail Omar and Datuk Loo Took Gee as directors.
Ismail, 63, takes on the role of independent non-executive director of Media Prima and its subsidiary the New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd effective yesterday.
He also becomes a member of Media Prima’s audit and risk management committee.
Ismail served in the police force for 47 years, culminating with his appointment as inspector-general of police from September 2010 to May 2013.
He was also Malaysia’s ambassador to France from 2013-2015.
Loo, 60, is appointed independent non-executive director of Media Prima and subsidiaries Media Prima Digital Sdn Bhd and Synchrosound Studio Sdn Bhd, effective August 6.
She is currently secretary-general of the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry.
Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri FD Iskandar said it was committed to implementing strategic actions to further consolidate its position as the largest integrated media group in Malaysia.
“The appointments of Tan Sri Ismail Omar and Datuk Loo Took Gee are significant additions to a very strong board already existing at Media Prima and our subsidiary companies.”
The appointments also reflected the group’s commitment to implement best practices and good corporate governance where 80 per cent of the board’s composition is independent non-executive directors with increasing the presence of women directors to 30 per cent, he added.
