Pic by Rahmat Othman KUALA LUMPUR: A youth was sentenced to two days’ jail and fined RM5,500 by the Traffic Court here after he pleaded guilty to riding his motorcycle in a reckless and dangerous manner, by performing a “Superman” move.

Magistrate Noorul Fhaiez Mohd Nayan ordered electric welder assistant Nur Iqkman Mohd Termizi, 19, to serve the jail sentence from today and serve three months in jail if he failed to settle the fine.

The court ordered his driving licence to be revoked and barred him from applying for a new licence for the next two years.

Iqkman had performed the “Superman” act on his Honda EX5 motorcycle, thus posing a danger to himself and to road users in the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (Duke) between 3.50am and 3.55am on Dec 19.

He was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which provides a maximum jail term of five years and a minimum RM5,000 fine, as well as revocation of the offender’s driving licence, upon conviction.

Prosecution officer Inspector Hashimah Hashim had urged for a deterrent sentence for the accused, while the accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded for leniency.

In the same court, vegetable seller Charies Nathan, 19, was placed on a two-year bond for good behaviour with a RM300 bail with one surety after pleading guilty for displaying false registration numbers on his motorcycle, in Lorong Delapan Kampung Pandan, here, at 4pm on June 17.

Charies was charged under the Section 42(1) Road Transport Act 1987. Bernama
