MOTORBIKE HUB: RM43m plant to help DNC Asiatic penetrate new markets

DNC Asiatic Holdings Sdn Bhd will be utilising its new RM43 million manufacturing plant in Olak Lempit near here as the distribution hub for Demak motorcycles’ expansion into the Southeast Asian market.

Its chairwoman Datin Seri Feona Wan Junaidi said Demak was also targeting markets in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa through its existing operations in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

“Together with our first plant in Kuching and the operations in Colombo, Demak is well-positioned to move forward.

“Essentially, Malaysia and Sri Lanka will serve as two important regional distribution hubs for our market expansion into emerging markets,” she said at the opening of Demak Malaysia’s corporate building and manufacturing plant yesterday.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed officiated at the event.

Demak’s 31.6ha manufacturing plant with a built-up area of 260,000sq-ft houses two production line, warehousing, training and research and development facilities.

The fully integrated plant also has manufacturing facilities for motorcycle chassis, metal-based parts and plastic parts and components.

Demak made its first sales in Sarawak in 2003 after its holding company DNC Asiatic obtained the licence from the ministry to assemble and manufacture motorcycles in December 2002.
