‘Pas can contest in Kelantan alone’

-

KOTA BARU: Pas has no qualms about running solo in Kelantan in the next general election, party deputy spiritual leader Datuk Ahmad Yakob said yesterday.

Commenting on plans by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) to contest seats in the state, Ahmad, who is also menteri besar, said his party would adapt to changes in the political setting.

“But the matter remains to be decided by the party’s central leadership. We have gone solo previously, and cooperated with other opposition parties. As for the other parties, including PPBM, it is up to them to form an opposition coalition.

“We will adapt ourselves to the situation for the next general election,” Ahmad said after delivering his keynote address to civil servants during the 26th anniversary of the state administration’s “Moving Forward with Islam” policy here.

Being a seasoned party, said Ahmad, Pas was not perturbed by PPBM and PAN.

“We are not under pressure and we will continue to champion our struggle.

“Pas has gone though a number of challenges and we have remained steadfast in our stand.”

Ahmad thanked the state civil servants for their support, which had enabled the administration to carry out its policies for 26 years.

“They are working hard to deliver the state policies to bring wealth and peace to the people.”
