Boy likely victim of abuse, say police

-

MERSING: An 11-year-old disabled boy, who was pronounced dead after being rushed to the Endau health clinic for injuries on Wednesday, was likely a victim of child abuse.

Johor Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mama said a post-mortem revealed that he had scars all over his body, probably from cigarette burns.

He said initial investigations showed that the boy was brought to the clinic by his parents after the boy’s 27-year-old mother found him lying on the toilet floor at home.

She went to check on him after she realised he was in there for too long.

“The victim’s mother noticed her son going in but suspected something was amiss after noticing he did not come out,” he said.

Kamarul said the mother found her son lying on the floor with one of his legs pinned down by a large water container.

“The victim’s mother claimed her son was conscious and alive when she picked him up and she quickly called her husband.

“They rushed him to the Endau health clinic,” he said.

Kamarul said the victim’s remains were later sent to the Sultan Ismail Hospital for a post-mortem.

“The health clinic’s medical assistant found scars all over the victim’s body,” he said.

Police have arrested the boy’s mother, 27-year-old stepfather and a 32-year-old uncle for murder at 4pm yesterday.
