USIM to confer honorary doctorate on senior academic
USIM pro-chancellor visiting USIM’s convocation fair in NILAI: After 11 years of service with Universiti Islam Malaysia (USIM), Datuk Dr Mohamed Asin Dollah finally bid farewell last year.
However, his contributions are not forgotten as he is the Honorary Doctorate of Dakwah and Islamic Management award recipient at USIM’s 14th convocation, which kicks off today.
Asin, 64, was among the earliest senior members of the USIM management team when it was formed more than a decade ago.
He received his Bachelor of Islamic Studies with Honours from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1976 before pursuing his studies at University of Glasgow in 1980.

He later received his
Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom in the field of Islamic Thought and Studies of Religions in 1989.
USIM Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Musa Ahmad said 73 graduates would receive their PhD degrees, while 132 would get their master’s degrees, post-graduate diplomas (23) and bachelor’s degrees (2,289).
Tunku Ampuan Besar Negri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud, who is also USIM chancellor, will grace the first convocation session.
Musa said Faculty of Leadership and Management lecturer Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr Mizan Adiliah Ahmad Ibrahim would receive the Professor Emerita title, while an Honorary Doctorate in Islamic Philosophy and Law will be conferred on Datuk Faiza Tamby Chik, who had served as High Court judge and USIM principal fellow at its Faculty of Syariah and Law.
