Umno members urged to close ranks for GE14

STRONGER: Hisham tells members to uphold party’s honour and protect leadership

UMNO members were reminded not to be complacent and to focus on facing challenges in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammudd­in Hussein said party members must gather their strength and unite for the sake of the party, religion, race and nation.

“I ask all Umno members to rise with extraordin­ary spirit. Through Umno, we shall uphold the country’s sovereignt­y and dignity of the people with dedication and commitment,” he said at the closing of the Pahang Umno Convention here yesterday.

Hishammudd­in reminded Umno leaders and members to close ranks and set aside personal difference­s in the fight for the benefit of the people and nation.

Hishammudd­in reminded party members that the political landscape was different now, and the

party needed to change in order to be relevant to strengthen religion, race and the country.

“We have no choice, like it or not, we have to close ranks, resolve internal issues and prioritise the party over individual interests,” he said.
