PUT YOUR BEST FEET FORWARD FOR DANCE CHAMPIONSHIP
THE Malaysian Open Dance Championship 2016 (MODC 2016) returns to One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya tomorrow.
The Championship will feature competitions in a variety of ballroom dances covering all age groups.
The event is organised by MBDC Communications with the support and endorsement of the national dance body, the Malaysia Ballroom Dance Council (MBDC) and endorsed by the Tourism and Culture Ministry in promoting dance tourism to Malaysia and the worldwide dancing fraternity.
MBDC president Datuk Dr Geoffrey Tan says, “The championship is the culmination of over a year of work and planning. I am delighted that it was such a success last year. We received fantastic support from many in the dancing fraternity, both locally and abroad, and I would like to thank them all. The number of entries exceeded our expectations last year and we are already seeing an unbelievable amount of enquiries for this year’s event.
“I look forward to seeing the event expand further this year. Our aspiration is for MODC to be not only our country’s number one dance championship but also grow into a regional icon in the dance world.”
Building on last year’s overwhelming success, this year’s championship will feature dance competitors and participants from more than 30 countries.
These dancers will compete in the Professional Open for Standard and Latin Dances, Professional Asia Closed for Standard and Latin Dances, Amateur Open, Amateur Asia Closed, Pro-Am, and Malaysia Amateur Closed in both Standard and Latin Dances.
Competition begins from 8am to 4.30pm and the final events will resume from 6pm to midnight on the same day.
The grand finale is the Gala
Night which will feature top dance professionals from around the world vying for the Professional Open and Professional Asia Closed in both Standard and Latin categories.
One of the unique features of MODC is to showcase the absolute best in the dance world. MODC
2016 will showcase performances by two of the world’s leading Champions in the Ballroom dancing world - Arunas Bizokas and
Katusha Demidova (the Blackpool and World Ballroom professional Champions 2016), and Maurizio Vescovo and Andra Vaidilaite (the Blackpool and World Latin First Runner Up 2016).
